Meningitis is an inflammation of the cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) surrounding the brain. It is usually caused by bacteria, viruses.
Common symptoms are reduced neurological function and classically a stiff neck. Meningitis caused by bacteria can be prevented by vaccination such as pneumococcal and meningococcal vaccines.
